We are equipped to deal with these mentioned causes of infertility holistically at our Naturopathic clinic.

We typically suggest both partners to have a simultaneous appointment with a Naturopath at our clinic.

A thorough couples' focused intake will take up to 120 minutes to review medical history, previous lab work and treatments and to start you on a preliminary fertility treatment plan.  

We typically use hormone testing for investigating fertility issues.

Blood based testing is helpful in this regard as it allows us to analyze ovulatory signals such as LH and FSH.

Blood testing also allows our Naturopathic Doctors to assess thyroid function. Thyroid health is a central part of proper fertility as hypothyroidism is a reversible cause of infertility in women and can cause abnormalities in sperm production in men. 

Adrenal testing is also used as cortisol plays an intimate role with regards to thyroid function and DHEA can be used to improve fertility. Adrenal testing is often done through saliva as a 1 point or 4 point salivary cortisol sample. 

DUTCH urinary hormone testing can be helpful in cases of infertility.

DUTCH testing provides our Naturopaths with a deep look at your estrogens, androgens and cortisol and their metabolites.

We tend to emphasize substances to enhance egg and sperm health.

Dr. Deol has a special interest in fertility and is trained in acupuncture for improving fertility.

Acupuncture is typically recommended by our Naturopaths as part of a comprehensive natural fertility treatment protocol

Our Naturopathic Doctors may recommend fertility acupuncture weekly for at least 6 - 8 weeks before reducing your acupuncture treatments to once or twice per month timed between day 7 and day 13 of your menstrual cycle.

Hormone Testing for Infertility

Acupuncture can enhance IVF and IUI fertility procedures. Preparing your body before IVF egg transfer or IUI ensures better success, lower treatment side effects, and an increase in pregnancy maintenance and live birth rates.

Acupuncture has positive effects on egg quality and can improve blood flow in the uterus which creates a better environment for implantation.

The balancing effects of acupuncture can also help support you emotionally through these important procedures. Robust data exists with regards to assisted reproduction therapy (ART) and acupuncture.

All of the Naturopaths at TruMed are trained in Traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture however, Dr. Deol, Dr. Tran & Dr. Sumar perform the majority of acupuncture at our Edmonton clinic and in some cases may refer out for treatment.

IV Therapy can be used to enhance sperm and egg health.
